Newsletter September 2013

Crossover time, as Summer comes to an official end and Autumn is on the horizon.

Reminder.  The last of our summer outings, to the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas, Staffordshire, is on Saturday 7 September 2013

The minibus option is no longer available.  David Beaumont hopes that he has made contact with all those who originally signed up to travel by minibus to make alternative arrangements, but in the (hopefully) unlikely event that you have been missed, please get in touch with David at david@jebeaumont.wanadoo.co.uk  or 01926- 641076.

Please meet at the Memorial Chapel at 10.45am for an introductory talk and a short remembrance service.  Lunch (not included) can be taken in the reasonably priced self-service restaurant, or bring a picnic.  Travel directions and an outline programme for the day can be found on the last page of your green Outings leaflet.

September meeting.  We will resume our programme of evening meetings on Friday 20 September2013 at 7.30pm, when David Bright will be talking about “The Mill and Engine House at Warwick Castle.”

Saturday 28 September 2013 K&DLHG will have a stand at the Village Open Day in the Kineton Village Hall on Saturday 28 September, when organisations and individuals will be displaying and explaining what is on offer to residents and others interested in the life of the village. If you can spare some time to help man the stall, please let me know (ashley@pasgas.plus.com or 01926-640545). Otherwise, please drop in to see us whilst shopping or visiting the library.

Website. Full K&DLHG programme details and other news are available on our updated website at www.kinetonheritage.co.uk

The Kineton Camera Club has invited K&DLHG members and their friends to their very special evening presentation Tuesday, 17 September 2013 at 7.30pm in Kineton Village Hall when Angie Butler will speak on the work of Frank Wild, an Edwardian polar explorer with Shackleton, illustrated by some amazing contemporary photography.  “Based on Angie Butler’s seven year research for her book The Quest for Frank Wild, a biography of one of the greatest polar explorers of all time, unearthed original and in some cases never before seen photographs of the Edwardian Heroic Age of Exploration”.

This quest was the subject of a fascinating television documentary a couple of years ago, and last September Angie spoke about it in a memorable talk to the Kineton Regent Club.  Highly recommended!

The cost for non Camera Club Members will be £2 to include coffee and biscuits .

With best wishes
